Position Overview
The Communications Manager will report directly to the Director of Communications and will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication plans that reflect our corporate narrative and enhance our brand reputation. This position requires a proactive leader who can craft compelling content, engage stakeholders, and drive effective storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior leadership to create and refine the overall communications strategy that aligns with Amazon’s business goals and enhances our presence in the Kansas City market.
- Content Creation: Draft and oversee the production of high-quality press releases, articles, blog posts, and other communication materials that clearly articulate our mission, values, and achievements.
- Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national media outlets, facilitating media inquiries, and securing positive coverage of Amazon’s initiatives.
- Event Coordination: Organize and manage corporate events, press conferences, and community engagement activities to foster positive relationships with stakeholders and reinforce Amazon’s brand identity.
- Internal Communications: Develop and implement internal communication strategies that keep employees informed, engaged, and connected to the company’s goals and initiatives.
- Analytics & Reporting: Monitor and measure the impact of communication initiatives through analytics, providing insights and recommendations to enhance future efforts.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or journalism, preferably within a large, reputable organization.
- Proven Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with a strong command of grammar and style. Experience in developing content for digital platforms is essential.
- Media Savvy: A robust network of media contacts and a demonstrated ability to secure media placements and manage press inquiries.
- Leadership: Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive initiatives to completion.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment, managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
